THRONE OF IRON   EPIC HEAVY METAL FROM USA Band Questions answer by Tucker Thomasson
Please introduce yourself and the band members briefly? We're Throne Of Iron. We are myself, Tucker Thomasson, on lead vocals and guitar, Corwin Deckard on guitar, and Jacob Lett on drums.   What does the band name mean and how do you get it? The name is actually just a reference to my weight bench, in all honestly. And I thought it soudned cool.   Where and how was the band founded? We formed in the town we all live in, in Bloomington, Indiana, United States. I helped Corwin move over the summer, drank too many beers one night, and wrote and recorded the demo pretty much in one shot. Once the demo started becoming pretty successful, I asked the other guys if they'd like to be involved.   Have you played in other bands before? I've been playing music for the past 11 years in various other bands. My main one, which I started in 2007, Thorr-Axe, is still going strong with Jacob also playing drums in that band. I've also played sludge under the name Goat Titan, black metal with Avakr and Glacien, doom metal with Ice Howl, and grindcore with Crowtein.   Was it hard to find suitable band members who fit musically and humanely with the band? Not really. The other members in this group are people I've known for years and meld and write with nicely and easily. It was convenient that they all lived in the same town.   What does the band name mean? A lot of people will assume it's a Game Of Thrones reference, but I honestly don't watch that show or read the books. It's just a kenning for my weight bench.   What are the lyrics about and who of you is writing them ? The lyrics fall into the realm of high fantasy, but with kind of a fourth wall breaking aspect, due to a lot of this high fantasy element being in the context of a table top role playing games.   Which bands inspired you and how would you describe your music to someone who has never heard a sound from you? Cirith Ungol, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Manilla Road, Eternal Champion, Visigoth all come to mind. „Dungeon Crawling Heavy Metal“ comes to mind for me.   Why should people listen to our music? Because we're fun!   How long did the production of demos 2018 take? I wrote and recorded the initial layout of the three songs in one night, finished the guitars, bass, and drums the next day, and sang the morning of the next day before I had to go to work.   You have signed a contract with No Remorse Records since how did you get in contact with them and what do you expect from the deal? No Remorse found us and contacted us through our facebook page with the deal. Christos heard our demo and liked what he heard quite a lot. I think us working with Chris and No Remorse records is going to be fruitful and a great time!   Are you already working on new songs and when can we expect a new album? We're putting the finishing touches on the first full length right now, but we're also constantly writing, so I'm certain the next release won't take long to materialize.   What was your first concert as a fan? And what memory do you have of it? My first concert as a fan was when I was 14 years old, and some local metal bands booked and played at our high school lunch room one Friday night.   Would you like to play live in Europe? Absolutely. Ideally, that will happen in the next couple years with at least one of my bands.   What were your live highlights and with which bands did you play? We actually havent even played live yet.   Have already resulted in friendship ? I've already met so many awesome people from around the world because of Throne Of Iron, and sent out more CDs than I ever have in my life.   Who would you like to play live with and why? I personally would really like to play with Eternal Champion. I think their live energy is incredible and their vibe is a big part of why I dig on traditional heavy metal so much.   With what do you earn your money except with the music? I work in a bakery and occaisionally run live sound for bands.   How important are social media for you as a band? Social media is extremely important for bands in this day and age. It how people find you, and know you exist and are active and doing things.   What would you (her) want to achieve with the band? I'd like to see where this album takes us. The demo has already exceeded all of my expectations in terms of where it's taken us.   What do you think about the Indiana metal scene in general? Indiana metal has never been stronger. We have a buffet of amazing bands in all corners of this state and I'm proud to call it home.   Maybe you can recommend some bands from your area? Archarus, Void King, Lawbringer, Spirit Division, Conjurer, Rat King, Porunga, and Wolftooth all come to mind.   PERSONAL QUESTIONS !   Where did you grow up and how was your childhood? I grew up on homestead outside of a small town called Bloomfield. I was kind of an emotionally stunted child for personal reasons I won't get into here. Overally, I didn't have what I'd consider a rough upbringing.   How was your school time you were rather the good student or the break clown ? School was alright. I got into some fights when I was younger, but that quickly tapered off. I wasn't either of those, honestly. I mostly kept to my small group of friends up until my later school years when I started getting into metal.   How did your parents react when you started making metal music? did they support you and how do you feel about your music today? My mother has always been incredibly supportive of me making music. When I first started listening to it, she just supported it because it meant that I had friends. The fact that I'm still doing this years later and have met most of the people I'm close to now because of metal simply amazes her.   Would you be successful in making music as a musician? I don't think I'd ever want to make music for a living. I'm afraid I'd get tired of it and it would stop being fun really quickly.   Are you someone who loves the hustle and bustle of the big city? or rather looking for peace and relaxation in nature? I honestly dislike big cities quite a bit.   Do you actively practice sports or are you more of a passive spectator? I am a highland games strength athlete. I wasn't very athletic in my younger years, but as I get older it feels nice to do something active outside of music. Aside from highland games, I'm also getting more into powerlifting. I most likely won't compete in it.   When it comes to your physical well you can cook or let you cook for you I'm a decent cook, but my wife-to-be is far more skilled than I am.   What does your environment tell you about your passion for metal (friends / family / colleagues) ? My coworkers are intrigued but don't really understand. This whole process with Throne Of Iron has been interesting for them to see unfold. My family aside from my mother still seem to kind of act like this is a phase I'm going through.   How do you see the problem with the haters on the internet who have to announce their mental garbage in anonymity always and everywhere? Most of the time I ignore them. Blowing up and spewing vitriol doesn't usually make your band look good in those circumstances.   What do you think about the internet in general? a blessing or a curse? Blessing mostly. People can access information at an unprecedented rate. But the constant influx of news gets tiring.   What would you personally like to do in your life? Do this music thing for as long as I can, and lift some heavy weights.   Which question would you like to have answered and why? Why are my cats so bad?   Indiana Home. Austria Never been.   Would love to go. Indianapolis Colts or Indiana Pacers I like football more than basketball, so Colts. Indianapolis 500 Never attended. Looks like a nice excuse to get drunk.
