TERRAVORE   THRASH METAL FROM BULGARIA Band Questions answer by Ivan Lazarov
Please introduce yourself and the band members briefly? Hello, my name is Ivan. I am one of the founders and one of the guitarists in Terravore. The other guys are Kalin Bachvarov, our frontman and bass player, Boiko Nikolaev, the other guitar guy and behind the drums is Trendafil Trendavilof from Kardjali. What does the band name mean and how do you get it? When we started the band with Kalin, we were trying to find cool and unique name. Somehow Kalin told us about that name and that there's no other band called like that, so we thought it's cool and decided to use it. Where and how was the band founded? The band was found in Varna, Bulgaria by Kalin and me. He was searching for a new musicians to form a thrash/death/black metal band and I understood about that by the former drummer of the band Sven. We've met did some rehearsals, checked some ideas and we started to make some songs. Have you played in other bands before? Yes we all played in couple of bands before. Me, Kalin and Trendafil were part of another thrash metal band called Mass Cremation (Kalin still is). Boiko played in some local formation in his born town - Byala. Trendafil aslo was the drummer of a band called Mental Disorder and I played in a speed/thrash band from Sofia, called "Nema Labavo". Was it hard to find suitable band members who fit musically and humanely with the band? Actually in our case it wasn't really hard. Everything happens pretty fast. Boiko joined the band 2 years later after we've officially founded it. We were trio until then. What does the band name mean? The band's name comes from two separate words "terra" and "vore". The first one means earth and the second one stands for something which consumes any matter. What are the lyrics about and who of you is writing them ? The lyrics are fully written by Kalin until now. The themes are different. We have three songs about different Star Wars themes, we have songs about war and violence, anti-radical islamic song, some sci-fi stuff and some apocalyptic stuff too. Which bands inspired you and how would you describe your music to someone who has never heard a sound from you? Almost all 80s and 90s heavy, thrash, speed, black and death bands are part of our inspiration. I'll give you just some examples .. Death, Megadeth, Sepultura, Demolition Hammer, Sodom, Kreator and many many many more. If we have to describe our music to someone we'll say that our music is aggressive for sure. Also I have to admit that Kalin is a really good lyric writter. His lyrics are interesting and long. That's one more thing which the listener should check. Why should people listen to our music? Because we do that music not only for us, but also for them. Our music will make them feel better and relaxed. It's a music to release all the anger and free yourself. How long did it take to finish your debut albums Unforeseen Consequences and who helped you? We did the songs for about 8-10 months and recorded the whole record for total 3 days. The guys from the "PlayGround" studio helped us with the mastering, mixing and recording. Their names are Todor Voynski, Marin Marin and Atanas Machev. Are you already working on new songs or is the advertising for Unforeseen Consequences currently on the plan? We will release an mini album by the end of this year through a label called "Panzer Productions". Stoycho Dimitrov is behind that label. He's a good friend and also the ex-vocalist of Axecutor. Great black/thrash band from Sofia. We are currently working on the songs for our second album, which we plan to release by the end of the next year, but nothing is sure at that time. What was your first concert as a fan? And what memory do you have of it? I don't really remember my first concert. I was a lot younger and it was a gig of a local band. I was really into that drinking beer and moshing stuff, so I guess it was really fun haha. What were your live highlights and with which bands did you play? One of our biggest highlights is that we played on the Rockstadt Extreme Fest in 2017. It is a festival locate in the central Romania, and we shared the main stage with bands like Kreator and Korpiklaani. It was a great experience. We also played with different medium famous bands like Nervosa, Suicidal Angels, Bio-Cancer, Chronosphere, Speedclaw, Pyogenesis, E-Force and more. Have already resulted in friendship ? Yeah we are kinda close with Chronosphere and Speedclaw. They are such a nice guys! With what do you earn your money except with the music? Me, Trendafil and Kalin are working in SEO company. That's our main job. Boiko is working as bartender in a local rock club. How important are social media for you as a band? A lot. This is the best tool to get to the audience nowdays. What would you (her) want to achieve with the band? Bulgaria is not famous with any metal bands. Our main goal is to be one of the first, to get on worldwide tours and travel. We want to make people happier with our music. What do you think about the Bulgaria metal scene in general? The Bulgarian metal scene is great! It's absolutely underground, but there are a lot of awesome bands here, which deserve more attention for sure. I'll give some examples, and they are not only thrash metal bands. Some of them are The Revenge Project, Odd Crew, Smallman, The Outer Limits, Khanъ, Eufobia, Coprostasis, Day of Execution, Concrete and many more. You should check some of them if you got time. (THANX FRIEND I WILL CHECK THE BANDS THANX HASCHI) PERSONAL QUESTION Where did you grow up and how was your childhood? Since I am writing this alone I'll speak only for myself. My childhood was interesting. I have a really nice family, but my friends and surrounding people were not that good because I was living in a criminal neighbourhood in Sofia and this gangsta-shit stuff was kinda high. You know drugs, trying to respect the others and stuff like that. Not the best place to be a metalhead, but it was okay for me. How was your school time you were rather the good student or the break clown ? My school time were the best time! So much fun! I was not a good student for sure .. The main things we did were some stupid stuff, drinking beer and joking around. How did your parents react when you started making metal music? did they support you and how do you feel about your music today? They didn't like the fact that I was playing more guitar that studying. They didn't like that I started to grow my hair too, but they always supported me. They are happy with what we did as a band now and I am happy too. Would you be successful in making music as a musician? I don't think so, but we are trying to get more audience. We don't have big expectations to be honest. Are you someone who loves the hustle and bustle of the big city? or rather looking for peace and relaxation in nature? I am that 50/50 guy. I like both options. Depends on the mood. Do you actively practice sports or are you more of a passive spectator? I did when I was younger. Now I don't do sports very often. Sometimes I play football and ride a bike. When it comes to your physical well you can cook or let you cook for you ? I am a lazy guy so I prefer someone to cook for me haha. What does your environment tell you about your passion for metal (friends / family / colleagues) ? Most of them are supporting me, some are just not interested in that culture. How do you see the problem with the haters on the internet who have to announce their mental garbage in anonymity always and everywhere? I don't care about them. What do you think about the internet in general? a blessing or a curse? A blessing for sure. A great tool for sharing information and to communicate with other people. What would you personally like to do in your life? I would like to travel around the world for maybe 1-2 years. That's one of my biggest dreams and it would be really awesome if that is combined with the band. Like a world tour. Bulgaria Bulgaria is a great country, with great history, traditions and people, but the problem of our country is the corruption and the mafia. They have everything and don't care for the people. It's the same thing in Greece, Serbia, Romania etc. If this thing is eliminated I think the Balkans would be one of the greatest and strongest locations on the Earth. Austria I don't really know a lot about Astria. I know that the capital is Vienna, there's a nice beer and people. I also know that we may play there in 2019's spring haha.     Sirene No opinion about that, haha. Ariana I don't know what you exactly mean by this, but there's a Bulgarian beer called that. It's not bad by the way and it is cheap of course. Boyana Waterfall A really really small part of the Bulgarian's nature beauty. Lovely place. Soccer Firstly it's called football and that's the greatest sport ever created! Slayer or Kreator That's a really hard, but maybe Kreator. Demolition Hammer or Red Hot Chilli Peppers DH for the win! Unleashed or Death Death of course. Science-Fiction I am somehow a big fan and not a big fan of that. The first thing which comes to my mind when I read science-finction is the movie "Interstellar". One of the greatest I've seen ever! Family The most important thing for me. It's above everything else. Movie or Series Movies for sure.
