ARIMAN   HEAVY METAL FROM PARAGUAY Band Questions answer by Victor Ocampos
PERSONAL QUESTIONS ! Where did you grow up and how was your childhood? I grew up in Minga Guazu, in the eighties of the past century, with my parents, my brother and my sister. I guess it was a good childhood, with pecuniary limitations but, good one. My father lost his job, then he moved to the inner country, there began working again, we moved with him. After some 2 years came back to Minga Guazú. I began working at 10 as an office boy. My brother began at 12 in a petrol station, there he met an old Venezuelan, who taught English, and he taught us English, and general culture, and present us Elvis, Joan Baez, Abba, etc. (My mom always loved Beatles and Queen, besides Roberto Carlos and Julio Iglesias jaja). I guess with the English lessons I began understanding the world in a different way, and interested in knowledge, I began reading more than the average in my school How was your school time you were rather the good student or the break clown ? I was a break clown, made fun of my colleagues when they do not know what teacher said, I sang Guns N’Roses, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, and so on in class, I did not have girlfriend because they thought I was very childish...buy never have poor qualifications. How did your parents react when you started making metal music? did they support you and how do you feel about your music today? Well, it was mixed. My father was quite indifferent, my mom supported me, and she gave me a Physical Graffiti album as a birthday present. But when I began listening King Diamond, Judas Priest, etc. I came in to my room and found some aromatic plants that I knew were to scare away evil spirits ajajaja...Until one day I called her and asked her not to worry about my musical inclinations. Would you be successful in making music as a musician? No...I just want to create my own songs and what I love is the Metal way, the metal sound, the attitude, the concerts, I feel it until now as a kind of freedom. To be a musician was not in my plans. Are you someone who loves the hustle and bustle of the big city? or rather looking for peace and relaxation in nature? Big city, noises, rush hour, people moving, bars, beer, pretty girls in tiny clothes jejej...just to watch. Do you actively practice sports or are you more of a passive spectator? I play football, as a Goalkeeper or as a Forward Center, because I am tall (1,85mts. Tall compared to paraguayan average). When I was in school, I played Basketball. However, I like to watch Rugby (I never played). When it comes to your physical well you can cook or let you cook for you Yes, I use to cook. What does your environment tell you about your passion for metal (friends / family / colleagues) ? My wife complains about loud music, and trips, she do not like the small metal shows, but she allows us to rehearse at home jajaj. Among colleagues I guess I broke some paradigms because I am an Economist and a lecturer, but with long hair and beard, in the beginning they were skeptics but now they accept the „Profesor Metalero“ o el „Metalero Austriaco“ (Austriaco, because a prefer the Austrian School of Economics). How do you see the problem with the haters on the internet who have to announce their mental garbage in anonymity always and everywhere? I guess that if there is some noise, there is something being talking about. That is a kind of exposure of that something. Haters are everywhere, the problem are not the haters, but people who feed them, or believe them. Haters have a big problem of self-esteem. What do you think about the internet in general? a blessing or a curse? It is a blessing, because we have more access to information we ever had in the past. You know on time what is happening in almost all the globe. You can contact with your friends around the world, can find places where to stay when travel, etc. Perhaps the problem with internet is that you do not appreciate the information as high as it should be because of it easiness to get it. Imagine the cost to buy a Metal album in the old way, comparing with a download. What would you personally like to do in your life? I dream studying abroad. Buy now I am turning 40 jaja...It is quite late. Still believe to get some scholarship to study somewhere in Europe. Which question would you like to have answered and why? How you have found about Ariman and why are you interested on it? ( I look a lot in internet for new bands and i found you in internet i think on facebook haschis) Paraguay: My bithplace, it is a good place to live in. We are still lag behind our neighbours on technology, education and infrastructure. However people use to be warm and joyful. Austria I were in München, the nearest place to Austria I visited. Drugs Never took Soccer Olimpia Movie or Series Movie: Braveheart, Letters from Iwo-Jima, Forrest Gump, Batman (Nolan’s film), Master and Commander, epics in general. Your top 10 Album all time faves Painkiller (Judas Priest) Seventh son of a Seventh Son (Iron Maiden) The Keeper of the Seventh Key I (Helloween) Abigail (King Diamond) Don’t Break the Oath (Mercyful Fate) Balls to the Wall (Accept) Gutter Ballet (Savatage) Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath) Show No Mercy (Slayer) Under Jolly Roger (Running Wild) Your top 5   Album in time ! Streets: A Rock Opera (Savatage) Quadrophenia (The Who) Blood of the Nations (Accept) Redeemer of Souls (Judas Priest) Maniacal Renderings (Jon Oliva’s Pain) The closing word is yours? I would like to thank you for the interview and the interest in the band. I hope we still keep on contact. The metal world is amazing, even with harsh competition among the bands, the spirit of friendship survives. Among fans it must not be a competition about who knows more, because that is just a matter of access to information. I guess if we try to enjoy ourselves just what we indeed like, should be more edifying. Greets.
