THE PROJECT QUESTION
Please introduce yourself and the band members briefly? Well, first I want to make clear that Age of Disclosure is a project and not a band. The beginning of the projectdates back to spring 2015, when I had the idea to professionally record some of the many songs I had written in the past ten years.Soon after, Bass player Adriano Troiano (Distant Past, ex-Emerald) joined the project and with his big expertise helped me to plan the recordings. I was later on happy to win different gifted vocalists for the project, namely Orlando Skrylls (Skrylls, ex-Draven), JvoJulmy (Distant Past, Lucid Dreaming, ex-Emerald), Roman Burri (No Reward, ex-Scream your Name), and SynSchütz (The Hunt, ex- Draven). Last but surely not least, Buddah Craven (Underskin, ex-Acidcell) gave his okay to play the drums on our album To the Universe. What does the projectname mean and how do you get it? The project name came into my mind when I was pondering on my lyrics which often address themes and questions about human existence in the postmodern era. Given the leakage of much confidential information or the arising of whistle blowers and alternative media in the past few years, I am sometimes wondering if we actually live in the Age of Disclosure. Where and how was the projectfounded? As mentioned before, I had the idea to found the project in 2015, and then began to look for musicians. Have you played in other bands before? Yes, I have played in several bands before and am currently playing in two bands called Distant Past and Skrylls, in which there are several musicians who are also involved in Age of Disclosure. What are the lyrics about and who of you is writing them? On our first album To the Universe I have written all the lyrics. There are a few songs related to interpersonal themes, but mainly, the lyrics revisit questions such as for example: Who are we humans really and where do we come from, or what – if anything – happens after we die? Is there a 'big plan' for us? How is the world we live in functioning? Which bands inspired you and how would you describe your music to someone who has never heard a sound from you? The music I write reflects the diverse musical influences of mine, ranging from bands such as Iron Maiden, Queensrÿche, Metallica, Savatage, Megadeth, Iced Earth, Killswitch Engage, Fates Warning, Alice in Chains, to Kiss or the Scorpions. One of the singers on the last album was JvoJulmy from emerald! How did you come to him and why does not he sing with emerald? I got to know Jvo via Adriano Troiano because Jvo is the singer in AdrianosBand Distant Past. I sent Jvo some demos and fortunately, he agreed to do the vocals on some songs of our debut album. I don’t know why Jvo does not sing in Emerald anymore, already several years have passed since then.. Adriano Troiano was also with emerald before! Can you also tell us something that he does not play with emerald anymore? I don’t know exactly, but I guess Adriano wanted to concentrate on his project Distant Past (which has now become a band doing gigs) and on the band Skrylls that singer Orlando Skrylls founded, and in which I am also playing. On the last album you had different singers will that be the same on the new album? Yes, the same vocalists as on our debut will be singing on the second album, plus I will do the vocals on one or two songs. Your new album should have come to my ears at came first time of next year! what can you tell us about it in which direction it will go musically and lyrically ? Musically and lyrically, the album will be similar to our debut, but we invested more time in the melody lines and phrasing of the vocals, which I think is the most important single aspect of a song. When the new album is finished there will be a tour? No, no tour is planned, Age of Disclosure will remain a mere project. But as I have mentioned above, I am currently playing in two bands, so there are opportunities to go on stage for me which I love! What were your live highlights and with which bands did you play? Well, I haven’t done a world tour so far ;-), but there were several very cool gigs I have done with other bands over almostthree decades. Have already resulted in friendship? Of course, since many of the bands I was playing with are very cool! With what do you earn your money except with the music? I am a psychologist and work as an assistant at the FernUniSchweiz. I mainly work doing home-office and love the liberties I have, as well as teaching students. How important are social media for you as a project? Since we are not a band and do notplay live, social media are very important in trying to promote our music. What would you (her) want to achieve with the project? Well, if as many people as possible get to know our music and like it, that would be great! All the musicians of Age of Disclosure have their jobs outside of the music business and so there is no financial pressure.. Maybe you can recommend some bands from your area? There are several cool bands in the area of Bern, but maybe your readers want to check out the two bands I am currently playing in: www.distant-past.ch, and skrylls.ch The personal questions ! Where did you grow up and how was your childhood? I grew up in a small town near Bern, and I had a cool childhood. I began to listen to Kiss when I was only six years old, which has shaped my musical taste! How was your school time you were rather the good student or the break clown I was quite a nervous kid and not too interested in school, but when I grew older I became calmer and more serious. So I was able to study at the University of Bern. How did your parents react when you started making metal music? did they support you and how do you feel about your music today? My parents were always very supportive, although they were never really into Heavy Metal. I love Metal, although I also like to listen to Soul or Funk for example. Would you be successful in making music as a musician? Well, I don’t know – I think it is very difficult to be successful in making music and be able to live out of it. But fortunately I have a cool job outside of the music business and therefore, I do not have to rely on being successful. Are you someone who loves the hustle and bustle of the big city? or rather looking for peace and relaxation in nature? I am somehow in between – I live in Bern, the capitol of Switzerland, but Bern is quite a small city and nature is very close. I love living here! Do you actively practice sports or are you more of a passive spectator? I used to play football when I was younger and was in very good shape, but since then, times have changed . Nowadays, I enjoy watching football games on TV . When it comes to your physical well you can cook or let you cook for you? I think I am quite good at cooking, but of course I also like it when someone cooks for me / us. What does your environment tell you about your passion for metal (friends / family / colleagues) ? My social environment is very supportive, although not everybody likes the music I make. But for those people who are not very much into Metal, I can pick up my acoustic guitar and play a calm tune ;-) How do you see the problem with the haters on the internet who have to announce their mental garbage in anonymity always and everywhere? Well, everybody can communicate their opinions on the internet, so you have a wide variety of comments. I think a good idea is to give negative comments not too much attention. Another thing is critical but constructive feedback, from which one can benefit. What do you think about the internet in general? a blessing or a curse? I think it is both. On one side, people have the opportunity to communicate their opinions and to advertise their products, but on the other hand, there is of course much nonsense on the internet .. What would you personally like to do in your life? ..What I am doing now! . Maybe in the future have a family, but generally I am very satisfied with my life, with the people around me, the music, and my job! Which question would you like to have answered and why? Well, why should people listen to our music? . I think our debut albums contains a richly varied collection of songs – not only due to the four different vocalists: No matter if you look for „good old“-heavy metal songs, tracks with a thrash or a hard rock vibe, a power ballad, or even an instrumental, you’ll find it on To the Universe. Also, I think the production of the album came out very well, and the reviews of the album (which you can read on facebook.com/ageofdisclosure) are good. You can listen the album for example on youtube or Spotify. Here are a few words your opinion please Austria Although I don’t know Austria too well, I think you are very sympathetic! I knowfor example that you have very good skiers, and that your football nation team has played quite well in the past few years. Swiss Well, Switzerland is a very rich country with people that I think could sometimes get more involved, for example in international political affairs. But in general, I like living in Switzerland. Soccer or Ski . Definitely Soccer, although I also love skiing. I used to play in a football club when I was younger. Family I have no kids, but I have a really good relationship with my parents and with my brother and sister. Good relationships in a family are a thing one can be very grateful for! Cheese or chocolate? Chocolate – but cheese also if it is hot Iron Maiden or Judas Priest I like both bands very much, but if had to decide: Iron Maiden Manowar or Hammerfall Both not among my favourite bands, but: Manowar Krokus or Gothard I like some albums Krokus made in the earlier days very much, especially Metal Rendez-Vous. Metallica or Megadeth Megadeth! I really like the first few Metallica albums, but God, what a good thing it was that Metallica kicked out Dave Mustaine, because otherwise there would be no Megadeth! Women Well, the relationship between the two sexes is sometimes not very easy, but is it meant to be easy? Without women, something wonderful would be missing! (..and we would have died out ;-)) Your top ten all time album faves My all-time favourite has been the same since many manyyears, but from number 2 on, the list keeps changing almost daily.. Operation:Mindcrime / Queensrÿche Transcendence / Crimson Glory Rage for Order / Queensrÿche Hall of the Mountain King / Savatage Mental Vortex / Coroner Creatures of the Night / Kiss Stained / Living Colour Blackbird / Alter Bridge Alive I / Kiss Arise / Sepultura Your five top album in moment? Rainier Fog / Alice in Chains Live at the Royal Albert Hall / Alter Bridge Living the Dream / Uriah Heep From the Fires / Greta Van Fleet Who you Selling for / The Pretty Reckless The closing word is yours? Thank you very much for the interview and the cool questions! I really appreciate it when someone is interested in our music!
